I enjoy these types of submissions..

...where the author enjoys only one theme. Nothings wrong with that, it's just so interesting to see how much someone has progressed.

Everything about your flash has improved from the first, from character models to alot of eyestriking detail. Hell, even your logo looks alot nicer. BRAVO!

One thing you may want to concentrate on is making the character movement more fluid(although this one is much better than your first, there are still a couple of issues)

Can't say much on the humor, I didn't like it, but mind you, I'm pretty picky on what makes me laugh.

You can honestly tell that alot of work went into this.
Ignore the people who give this zeroes and call this crap. Crap is blammed, quality is front-paged.

CiyFox responds:

Thanks for the in dept reviwe. I'm glad you like my work. Hopefully i'll be taking an animations course at a collage so hopefully i'll learn some more technices. (can't spell to save my life)

Thanks again.
Fox.

That could've been any series

The only reason this got above a two was because it had the Z name in it. You could've thrown in any series and it still would've ended up the same. If this actually used original characters, it probably would've been blammed or close to it.

von-Brunk responds:

It could've ended up the same?

Riiight. Zelda is the only popular game I can think of featuring a character who pushes open tombstones to reveal ghosts and grottos... It's also the only game I can think of with a man who runs laps around the main level for no reason.

Alright, let's say I made three cartoons using the same exact plot as the ones you saw, only with ORIGINAL or non-Zelda characters instead? I bet you'd go apeshit and label this as a blatent rip-off of aspects from Zelda!

Oh yeah, nice little "blammed or close to it" remark, seeing how by the time you wrote this review, my cartoon made it past judgement with a score above 3.

Wow, you're a sharp one, aren't you!?

Information far to basic...

You taught us how to draw a face, not a character.

For instance, how do you know if the head is proportional to the body? What does a 3/4, back or even side view of a head look like. Even the most basic flashes use more than one perspective.

Finally, you need to show how to draw women or even the difference between a female shell and a male.

Its not a bad tutorial, and it is basic, but this is just too basic.

Next time, I suggest adding more meat to your tutorial.

DavidProvost responds:

Yea I was in a rush to finish it, but its a start for people who have no idea how to draw a face.

Compared to the first part, this is horrible

Your first part actually had atmosphere, a background, and the characters actually acted like they did on the games. It wasn't the greatest but it was a good effort. And I'll proudly admit you had a very cool looking loader.

This one pales greatly in comparison. In a fightscene, no one just wants to see heads reacting to the blades; they want to see the bodies fight. It just seemed like such a generic fight.

Than there is Sephiroth. Doesn't need to look like a badass all the time but having him making goofy faces like Vash the Stampede is just terrible.

I think the problem that you have is that you don't have a good concept of the human anatomy. Sure you can draw heads, but animation cannot rely solely on facial expressions alone.

My suggestion is that the next time you create a flash, focus more on drawing simpler animations. For instance, Cloud's running animation was terrible. Work on how to walk before you try running.

Fighting animations are difficult. The amount of flash tricks involved are insane, especially if its a non stick movie.

Props though for finishing your movie. Most people would've just tossed their work when feeling bored. Although if you think the flash was half assed, you should expect people to give assy comments.

Anyways, I suggest you look under my profile and under favorite animations. I've collected alot of tutorials that may help you.

the best ones are the
-drawing hands/heads for idiots
-Point Perspective Tutorial
-Walking Cycle one
-Particle effect tutorial that is surprisingly easy and should help you on your magic effects next time.

Good Luck

DC5-bOi responds:

haha i know what u mean by vash the stampede hahaha! but seriously thanks for ur comments and advice. yea somewhere in the i lost inspiration. yup clouds runnig was terrible i admit. i am guilty of being lazy. sorry. i will do better. oh i agree with u on the loader it was prolly the best part out of both of the movies! hahah. take it easy.

How sweet

Sure the art was a little crappy, but the presentation is simply outstanding for being a first work :). Work a little on making your art cleaner and you'll develop into a great flash artist :)

Mloriendell responds:

thanks. I've gotten some good tips from past reviewers that I intend to use, maybe up my frame rate a little bit for a fast song and such

Good Submission

Wow, this is a really creative idea. Okay confession One: I would've ignored this one if it didn't have the MGS name in it :p

I think what really caught my eye was your uber-cool Loader. That was awesome. How did you do it? That stupid snake almost hypnotised me 0_o.

Anyways, the ideas in this were also creative and quite humorous. My two favorites are The Beginning and The Box Eater.

The only bad thing was: For such good drawing and animation tricks, I was a little disappointed that all the characters just stood there with a couple of twitches/mysterious-wind-blowing-coat-in-a-closed-off-room tricks.

Well, good luck to you and your future animations.

KupaMan responds:

The coat blowing this was supposed to be a joke. You always see dark, shady people in long coats or long hair blowing in the wind when they're in like a restaurant or something. I was going to have the casting director guy say something like; "What the hell's up with that coat?" and The Slight Discomfort would just say; "Uhh--" and then it'd cut to the next scene. I just forgot to do it. Oh well.

Can we say: Teenage Mutant Ninja Moogles?

The animation was good. A lot better than I could ever do. I thought they were cute, but I preferred the originals better.

synsacrum responds:

yeah, you just can't beat mog, but the only problem with him is that he's not very intimidating, so i tried to alter the basic character design a bit
thanks for the comment

Good song, bad flash

That was a really good song. The graphics were kind've crappy but the lipsyncing was good as well as the humor.

LeoZ responds:

jolly dee.

Problem is...

Isn't this a little old? AVP has already been out of the theaters and onto DVD months ago. Most online reviews like this come out maybe a week or two after the film debuts.

The problem with doing an old movie is that all the complaints and issues have long been dealt with long ago.

LegendaryFrog responds:

Yeah, that is a problem. But I wrote teh movie a couple weeks after I saw it, but was busy. The we started it hoping to have it done by the DVD release, but we got busy.

Better late than never!

Not worth a ten

The art's quite excellent. Especially some of the emotions (although what is up with the dancing eyebrow? I know you have to exaggerate in animation but they should move a little stiffer like they were attached to skin, not as if they were two caterpillars). I know who you are NALO; I’ve seen your other works before this and graphically, this is your best one (but you de-aged Snake into a teenager who looks younger than Otacon, if you aren’t going to use the old model, at least give him a few more age lines).

Voice acting: The guy played Otacon nailed it PERFECTLY. Too bad no one else didn’t. Snake sounded like Keanu Reeves from “Bill and Ted”, Liquid’s went way overboard with the bad british to where it got annoying, and Lady Villain reminded me of Rebecca pre-Reremake aka, she got annoying as well. Lesson? He acted like the normal Otacon from the series; while a little exaggeration is fine and recommended, the other voices practically raped it to death.

Now the script; call me crazy, or old since I am 22, but guards farting and pissing in their pants? There are a million different things you could’ve done and yet your humor downgraded from clever and witty (Return of Ganondorf) to the kind of things that are normally blammed. This isn’t funny, and at the very least, it’s redundant. If I want fart jokes done right, I’d watch an episode of South Park.

Overall, I’d rate it above average but not “the ultimate MGS flash.”

NALO responds:

ok fair enough
to be honost i didn't read the whole review it was too long but i got the main points.

i guess we can't please everyone, thanks for ewatching anyway

Dreaming of things won't make them real, but working for them might.
