The series doesn't have potential...

...but you do. Let me give you some advice, don't try to go for a series on your first try. Instead, work on small projects to further your flash skills.

Most of your scenes looked a little bland... and the perspective was a little shoddy. But things like the elevator opening looked really good.

Same with the people, the beginning guy (Big Boss/Solid Snake? ) just stood there, but the guard had good head movement later on.

You have a sly eye for detail, but the problem is you lack expierence. That's something that will come with time and practice.

One thing that was good throughout this flash was that you have good editting and timing. AKA you know when to cut from shot to shot without making a scene feel too short or lag too long. Except for the artistic flaws mentioned above, the trailer wasn't half bad.

If you keep at it, you can laugh at all the people who call your work shit later.

Best of luck :)

What a cute submission :)

Well the graphics aren't great(in some areas) but it was quite nostalgic and cute.

Good, but not a 10

I think this is a very good piece, but its not a "10". You have a talent for captivating emotions while keeping the piece fluid.

But it feels segmented and unfinished and kind've random like it was meant as a portfolio piece rather than an actual movie submission. If you want an example, you should watch the movies by Vinnie Veritas(just type his name in the search engine). To me, you remind me of his type of work.

Well, good luck on your next submission. Hope to see more :)

Oh-Snapple responds:

Thanks Alot For Your Critique.
I'm Glad You Enjoyed It.

I enjoy these types of submissions..

...where the author enjoys only one theme. Nothings wrong with that, it's just so interesting to see how much someone has progressed.

Everything about your flash has improved from the first, from character models to alot of eyestriking detail. Hell, even your logo looks alot nicer. BRAVO!

One thing you may want to concentrate on is making the character movement more fluid(although this one is much better than your first, there are still a couple of issues)

Can't say much on the humor, I didn't like it, but mind you, I'm pretty picky on what makes me laugh.

You can honestly tell that alot of work went into this.
Ignore the people who give this zeroes and call this crap. Crap is blammed, quality is front-paged.

CiyFox responds:

Thanks for the in dept reviwe. I'm glad you like my work. Hopefully i'll be taking an animations course at a collage so hopefully i'll learn some more technices. (can't spell to save my life)

Thanks again.
Fox.

Odd question...

I don't find anything wrong with Link carrying a gun but why bother to radically redesign him and not the others? It feels very out of place. I mean, Luigi spits fireballs out of hand, surely you could've done something different to him?

Not as good as your last two...

You're other two had me in tears but this one was fairly slow. But because there's still more to go, I'll wait until your next submission :)

Cheap usage of a franchise

This is definately worse than the tweened-Zelda-1-joke deals. The graphics look like you just traced bitmap character shots from the show and the background definately looks like you traced it from the show(with a hint of photoshop).

I don't give a fuck if you spent 1 day, 1 year or 1 minute on this. Do you see any catagories for "time it took"? World is not going to end tomorrow and if you haven't noticed, most of the top fifty composes of flashes that resorted to quality rather than speed.

Better than "Mario is Missing"

This is an extremely creative and unique flash. My favorite part was when you used Yoshi's tongue.

Although I'm not too fond of sprite flashes, I think that it goes quite well with this and works better than actual hand drawing the characters.

Bravo!

People need to lighten up a bit...

This is a very good entry. Sure its DBZ influenced, but its also atmospheric. You're one of the few people who actually attempt to create Hyrule as a large land mass. The scenes where Link is simply riding to his destination is quite possibly the most Zelda-like thing on Newgrounds.

I think its odd that in your reviews, people are willing to give 10's to Mario flashes where he's holding a set of automatics or a Lesbian Zelda.

Yet they are willing to throw a zero as soon as something looks like DBZ despite the awesome presentation you give at the beginning(not to mention the impressive cliff jumping scene) or the fact that you used the Uni-Link mask in an OOT setting.

Dreaming of things won't make them real, but working for them might.
